BARDON AGGREGATES HELPS TO PAVE THE WAY
Bardon Aggregates, an Aggregate Industries business, recently donated over 132 tonnes of asphalt to local charity Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Loughborough - which provides respite, palliative and terminal care to families who have a child with a life limiting illness - to improve the quality of its car parking facilities.
Working alongside contractor J A Ball New Homes, Bardon Aggregates resurfaced the charity’s main car park using binder course and close graded surface course and helped to install materials which had been donated by local merchants including P R Building Supplies, J B Tool Hire, Mini Paver Hire and Jackson Building Centres.
Matt Avery, Asphalt Service Manager, explains: “Bardon Aggregates has been raising money and working in conjunction with Rainbows for a long time. It is a cause that is both local and close to everyone’s hearts.”
In order to provide families with support in difficult times, Rainbows Children’s Hospice has to raise over £1.8 million annually through donations.
Geoff Ellis, Director of Operations at Rainbows, comments: “We have been overwhelmed by the help offered to allow us to re-instate our car-park. The cost proved beyond Rainbows’ means and has meant months of paddling through mud for families, visitors and staff. With winter upon us we were becoming very concerned.
“Although vital money can be raised from within the local community, much is needed for extra work such as the car park. This has to be found in addition to the £1.8 million needed for care. Therefore it is fantastic that we have support and donations from local companies such as Bardon Aggregates.”
