BARDON AGGREGATES’ CRICH QUARRY ACHIEVES 1,500 DAYS WITH NO ACCIDENTS
Bardon Aggregates’ Crich Quarry, near Matlock in Derbyshire, is celebrating having just reached the milestone of 1,500 days without accidents or injuries.
This fantastic achievement falls in line with targets set by parent company Aggregate Industries as part of the Health & Safety Commission’s ‘Hard Targets’ initiative which aims to cut the number of accidents in the aggregates industry.
Commenting, Quarry Manager Martin Selfe says: "To reach 1,500 days without any accidents whatsoever is a remarkable achievement, especially when you consider the busy nature of our quarrying activities which supplies a variety of infrastructure and road surfacing projects. With a headcount of 11 direct employees including weighbridge staff, plus seven part-time contractors, this means over 10,000 man days have been logged without an accident. Credit goes to every employee working on this site for their hard work and dedication.
“This figure shows we are getting it right and the ongoing challenge is to keep getting it right."
Crich is a limestone quarry producing single sized aggregate and sub base material. Located at Townend, Crich, near Matlock in Derbyshire, there is a crushing and screening process on site, along with associated offices, a weighbridge and a workshop.
