BARDON AGGREGATES HELPS TO BUILD FIRM FOUNDATIONS
Bardon Aggregates’ Bardon Hill quarry at Coalville in Leicestershire, has joined forces with local charity Leicestershire Cares, to help ex-offenders rebuild their lives and reach their full potential in the workplace.
Part of a national movement of partnerships, Leicestershire Cares is dedicated to matching the talents and skills of employees with the needs of the local community.
Jonathan Campbell, Bardon Hill Quarry Manager said: “We are delighted to be a part of such a great team and to play a small role in the process of helping ex-offenders rehabilitate and regain a stable working and home life. As a company we are always keen to help the local community. Having seen the tremendous work and the great results the partnership has produced, we were interested in getting involved through their mentor scheme.”
Bardon Hill Quarry, as a member organisation, spends time working with ex-offenders, helping to give them confidence at work, to adjust to the routine and practice interview techniques. When the placement is finished, the ex-offender is rewarded with a certificate of achievement and given a current written reference that can be used to help to gain full long-term employment.
Monica Kimche, director at Leicestershire Cares, says: “We are so pleased that Bardon Aggregates has seen the benefits to all in joining our mentoring scheme.
“As one of the largest and most influential employers in the area, Bardon Aggregates, part of Aggregate Industries, is able to provide the best introduction to work and outside life for previous offenders.”
